How to Create Facebook Ads Account
// Marketing
To start advertising on Facebook, you need an Ads account (ads - short for advertising) - an account with information about the owner, user partners, target audience and advertising campaigns. In this article, we will illustrate how to create a Facebook advertising account in two ways that are available today: by creating a business page and using Business Manager. What will it take you just a couple of minutes of real time.
The first option is suitable for those who plan to advertise their products and services, as well as for small businesses. The second - for large businesses and advertising agencies that will work with multiple advertising accounts.
Facebook Business Page is a free tool to showcase and promote your business on the largest social network in the world. By default, all owners of business pages are automatically issued a Facebook advertising account, the presence of which you can verify if you open the Ads Manager, section Account tab. This is how it will look:
If you do not have a business page, you must create one to get an advertising account. To do this, use the following step-by-step instructions:
This is an opportunity for all members of the social network Facebook. To use it, open your personal page and click on the “Create” icon in the upper right corner of the screen. In the context menu, select "Page".
A window will open where you will be asked to choose between “Business or Brand” and “Community or Public Figure”. The first option implies that you will be engaged in some kind of commercial activity, the second option - public, charitable, educational, and at the same time do not plan to receive financial benefits from this. To make a choice, click on the “Get Started” icon under the desired profile.
The choice made at this stage will determine which functions will be available for the created business page. More details about this in the table:
After clicking “Get Started”, a context menu will appear where you will need to indicate the name of the business page and field of activity, for example, retail, auto sales, online store, real estate, law, web design, restaurant or other. Just enter the keywords that characterize your business in the “Category” field and the system will display the available options.
Next, the fields for entering the address and phone will appear. The address entered at this step will be displayed in the profile of the business page in the form of a map with a marker in the center. If you do not want this, then the address can be hidden from visitors to the page by checking the box “Don’t show my address ...”. At the same time, the system will save it and will use it to determine the time zone and the target region for displaying ads. Enter the address with the phone and click "Continue".
In a new window, the system will prompt you to download the logo (avatar) for the profile of the business page from the hard drive. This should be a square image with a certain picture or photograph in the center, which users will see as a circle, not a square. Optimize the image on Facebook does not work, you need to do this in advance using Canva, Crello or other similar services.
After the avatar, you also need to upload an image for the cover (displayed at the top right in the profile of the business page). This should be a photo, picture, map or video, which on the screens of computers and laptops will be displayed with dimensions of 820 × 312 pixels, smartphones - 640 × 360 pixels.
After loading the cover, a business page will open where you will see that the cover is empty. To fix this, click “Add a Cover” and then “Choose From Photos” or another option.
In a new window, double-click the right button to select the desired image.
A business page has been created, and now you have a Facebook Ads account. Next, you need to make sure the settings are correct and bind the payment instrument to it. To do this, go to Ads Manager by clicking "Create" and then "Ad".
In a new tab, click on the “Ads Manager” icon at the top left of the screen and then “Settings”.
In the window that opens, there will be data on your advertising account, including its ID, which can be used in the future to launch advertising campaigns, associate new users with it, etc.
Check if all of your ad account information is correct. If necessary, change the time zone and currency. But keep in mind that any change will automatically create a new advertising account (with a new ID). The old one will also be visible to you, but it will be paused, like all advertising campaigns launched from it.
If you plan to work in a team, you can add a new member by clicking on the “Add People” icon. In the window you need to specify the user ID on Facebook and indicate its role: administrator, advertiser or analyst.
Administrators will have access to almost everything:
In the window that opens, select your preferred payment method and enter your payment information. It’s important that you have at least a few dollars on your bank card or digital account.
Now you have a ready-made Facebook advertising account that you can use to promote your business in the largest social network in the world. If you plan to use several advertising accounts or you need to create an account for a client, read the next section.
Now we’ll show you how to create a new advertising account using Business Manager (BM) - a tool for managing all business processes on this platform, including the promotion of other campaigns (users).
If you already have an account in Facebook Business Manager, open it and go to the second step. If there is no account in Business Manager, you need to create one. To do this, click on the “CREATE ACCOUNT” icon in the upper right corner of the screen and follow the instructions.
In a new window, you will be asked to give a name to your account in Facebook Business Manager, indicate your name and surname, as well as the address of the business mail.
Next, you need to specify your business data: location, phone and site. All fields are required except the second address.
Having opened Facebook Business Manager, you should click on the “Business Setting” icon in the upper right of the screen.
Next, go to the “Ad Accounts” section and click “+ Add”. A context menu will open where you need to select "Create a New Ad Account".
Enter the name of your new ad account and specify the time zone and currency. Please note that the currency must correspond to the currency of the payment method that you choose in the future to activate the advertising account. Whereas the choice of time zone will affect when the system displays your ads to users.
Next, they will ask you for which business you are creating an advertising account - your own or someone else's. Select the option you want and click Create.
Next, you need to specify who will have access to the created account and in what role. Usually, they retain the rights of an administrator, while the rest are given the rights of a manager or analyst. If you are a marketing agency and create an account for a client, then you need to agree on access rights in advance.
After entering this data, a Facebook advertising account will be created and you will see the following notification.
To quickly proceed to the next step, click on “Payment Methods” in the message body.
In the “Payments” section, click on the “+ Add” icon.
A window will open where you need to choose a payment method and specify payment information. This is an important point that affects what type of account will be created: with manual or automatic payment, that is, with prepayment or postpay. More on this in the next section.
Please note that the advertising account will be activated only after the successful connection of the payment instrument, which you should be notified about. Sometimes at this stage the system freezes for a long time. In this case, just reload the web page, return to the “Ad Accounts” tab, and if everything is fine, you will see an activated account.
When you attach a payment instrument to an advertising account or create your first Facebook ad, you also decide how the payment will be made:
Automatically Postpaid. You attach a bank card or fiat money account PayPal to your Ads-account and start advertising without advance payment. As soon as your debt exceeds a certain threshold (billing threshold), the system will debit the debt from your account on a credit card or PayPal. If the debt for advertising shows does not exceed such a threshold, then the money is debited on a certain date of each month. The threshold for spending money and the number to be debited can be set in the settings.
Consider examples:
Let's look at an example:
All other available payment instruments will use automatic postpay. You can view the entire list of them at this link.
