Life in the conditions of "eternal novelties"

The respondents interviewed by the experts revealed fears of too rapid tech development. So, about a third of the respondents not only experience stress from life in the conditions of "eternal technical novelties", but also experience a feeling of helplessness. There is nothing strange or surprising here. It is natural for a person to understand the world in which he lives. And now an ordinary user of technical innovations is very difficult to understand the current trends, their prospects and potential dangers. Therefore, such feelings, expressed by respondents during the survey, are fully justified. By the way, the subject and topic of cryptocurrency exchanges and trading system emerge.

As for the positive points, almost half of the respondents spoke about how seriously the internet helps the work. 46% of respondents say that it allows you to get new required knowledge much faster. At the same time, the phenomenon has the opposite side. Information obtained very quickly and without much effort is quickly forgotten. There are two factors involved here: the psychological depreciation of knowledge, mastered without much difficulty, and a huge amount of information in which it is difficult to track and remember everything.

Conversion of social networks to a news project

Social media resources have recently begun to be seriously transformed. They are increasingly implementing live broadcasts with interactive design. And popular bloggers become media forwarders and opinion leaders. But, as practice and research shows, users are not accustomed to believing them unconditionally. Although social networks have taken a more significant place in the lives of users, but also brands that promote their products there.

Will the social media replace traditional media in the future? I'm not sure. This is due to several factors. They are as follows:
- A professional author should correctly and professionally publish information. Thus it is desirable to have a specialized journalistic education.
- Bloggers often do not conduct regular broadcasts. At the same time, the team of traditional media work full-time. They have a strict schedule of publications and plan of work.
- Bloggers usually publish information in a very narrow direction. At the same time, journalists have a broad specialization. They are not experts in all matters, but they know professionals which can help to get expertise.

Thus, to say that traditional media will "die" is unreasonable. Sometimes such thoughts resemble an agiotage, which at one time was created around electronic books. At that time, many believed that the usual paper books completely lose relevance, and the libraries will close. At the present time and 2020, after many years, we do not see anything like this. Paper books not only do not give up, but also new publishers are opening up, which are rapidly increasing the turnover of sales of paper books.

A similar trend we can observe in the media industry. At the moment, Internet technologies do not interfere with the development of traditional media. Moreover, they help them to develop. A good example is Skype in live broadcasts, when it is not possible to invite a guest or an expert directly to the studio. Probably, in the future social networks and traditional media will work more closely.

As for the social media today, Ericsson ConsumerLab experts have tracked such trends:

- Most respondents do not consider social networks an objective source of information. People are sure that most of the posts and public pages are being promoted in order to gain support or influence your decision. This indicates the critical thinking of users. Each block of information is questioned.

- About 40% of respondents believe that celebrities pay to ensure that the number of their subscribers increases. Thus, the credit of trust to celebrities in social networks is not high. Users clearly realize that behind this are certain interests and a lot of work of the PR agency.

- About 40% are tired of not relevant advertising of corporate pages with calls for "likes".

As you see, the digital marketing trends and the development of social networks provides an opportunity for the development of media. Internet technologies and the possibilities of modern technical gadgets allowed individual bloggers and companies to conduct live broadcasts. At the same time, there is no reason to say that social networks will take the place of the usual media.

The Danger of Artificial Intelligence

Interactive assistants, developed on the basis of artificial intelligence (AI), not only optimize the work of the company but also cause stress in a lot of people. Ericsson ConsumerLab reports that half of the respondents were directly concerned about this. The impossibility to distinguish between communication with a bot from communicating with a person seems to people not just a strange, but a frightening prospect. Despite so many ICO planning to use AI.

About 40% of respondents say that the new functions of smartphones that are able to respond to the mood of the user, they appear to be dangerous. Such reactions are quite logical and justified. On the one hand, engineers try to make the technology as smart as possible. On the other hand, people are not ready for such prospects. The union of human and machine intelligence is frightening.

If we consider the problem from the psychological point of view, we can see an increase in the tension in this issue. Technology is rapidly evolving. It makes our life easier at the household level, but it often overtakes the level of users' readiness for such innovations. Most people do not see any reason to positively perceive new technologies, as evidenced by research from Ericsson ConsumerLab.

Flying cars

The ideas about flying taxis and bicycles are no longer something of a fantasy field. Modern technologies make it possible in the near future to design something similar. However, there are many problems that still have to be solved. Thus, the bright future is not so close and not so simple. Potentially the creation of flying cars, which would move within the city, is fraught with many dangers. The trajectory of accidents from city roads and country roads would expand substantially. No one would like to, quietly sitting at home and sipping a fragrant coffee, see a flying car crashing into a balcony.

Will special airways be protected from this issues? Difficult question. More than a third of the respondents, interviewed by Ericsson ConsumerLab, honestly stated that they are afraid of falling drones on their heads. It is more difficult if we say about full-fledged air taxis or bicycles?


The active use of consumer electronics and more and more equipment stimulates the development of robotics. Experts predict that in the coming years the process will only increase. Therefore, some industries are actively monitoring the development of this direction. This will in the future improve productivity and reduce costs. Now robots are actively used in medicine, engineering and logistics. They can be managed remotely using mobile apps or by neural-signals. We are sure that robotics will actively develop in the future.

Summing up

Technical trends are developing very rapidly. They make our life easier, but they make it difficult to organize and create new rules. As the Ericsson ConsumerLab research shows, not all people support such fast progress.
32% of the interviewed people feel uncomfortable because of the inability to follow all the technical innovations and understand them. It can be assumed that the transformation of the industry is too active. Of course, this does not mean that technical trends should "stand still."
